PMJ NEWS – The joint apparatus prevented the delivery of 23,942 clear lobster seeds or fries from Soekarno-Hatta Airport. Smuggling attempts are disguised as garment products.
Head of the Fish Quarantine, Quality Control and Safety of Fishery Products (BKIPM), Rina said that the fry is planned to be sent to Tanjung Pinang via a Garuda Indonesia cargo plane with flight number GA286.
“Thanks to the synergy and support from related agencies and stakeholders in the airport environment, we succeeded in thwarting the delivery of clear lobster seeds on Friday, March 5,” said Rina in her statement, Sunday (7/3/2021).
Rina said the sender disguised his actions by writing garment products such as sheets, shirts and pants on the packaging sacks that were to be sent. However, officers found something suspicious when the package passed through the x-ray rays.
From this suspicion, officers then opened the sack and found the fry were packed with boxes and suitcases. When opened, it was found 30 bags of BBL and 5 bottles of ice cubes.
“Each bag contains 800 fry which are divided into 1 bag containing 584 types of sand and 158 types of pearls,” he said.
BKIPM officers immediately confiscated and handled the BBL further to be refreshed (reoxygen). Rina ensured that her staff and police officers were still hunting down the shipper of the prohibited commodity to be trafficked.
“The suspect who sent the clear lobster seeds is still in search,” he said.
Rina hopes that this incident will serve as a warning to the BBL smugglers. He ensured that the KKP would always supervise this commodity, especially in a number of areas prone to shipping and smuggling.
“We will continue to monitor it. Hopefully this will be a warning to anyone, so don’t try, “he said.
