JAKARTA – The National Police flew 22 suspected terrorists as a result of an arrest operation carried out by the Anti-terror Special Detachment 88 Team in several areas of East Java.
They arrived at Soekarno Hatta Airport, Tangerang, Banten, at around 12:20 WIB using a Lion Air Boeing plane 737-900 PK-LSH.
With tight escort by the Special Detachment 88 Anti-terror Police team, the 22 suspected terrorists were chained with hands and feet. They were transported to Jakarta in order to facilitate the investigation process.
Karo Penmas, Public Relations Division of the National Police Headquarters, Brigadier General Rusdi Hartono, said that the suspected terrorist named himself Fahim’s group. They are suspected of being affiliated with or affiliated with the terrorist group Jamaah Islamiyah (JI).
“Law enforcement began on February 26, 2021 to March 2, 2021. They used to call themselves the Fahim group. So Fahim is East Java, “said Rusdi at Soekarno Hatta Airport, Thursday (18/3/2021).
Rusdi explained that the arrests of 22 terrorists were spread across East Java. “The prosecution was carried out in Surabaya, Sidoarjo, Mojokerto, Kediri, Malang and Bojonegoro,” said Rusdi.
As previously reported, up to now there are 6,000 groups and sympathizers from Jamaah Islamiyah spread across Indonesia.
